Schools are allocated a sum of money, called the Primary PE and Sport Funding to support all children and improve the quantity, quality and breadth of PE and sport provision. The allocation is calculated according to the intake of the school and the school must decide how best to use the money to improve the breadth and quality of PE and sport provision, including increased participation in PE and sport so that all pupils develop healthy lifestyles and reach the performance levels they are capable of.
We are passionate about PE teaching in our school and this has been recognised as we have achieved our Silver Quality Mark. All our pupils have a miniumum of 2 hours of PE lessons every week. In addition to this, our pupils to have 60 active minutes each day. This includes 55 minutes break time and 10 minutes of daily running during class time. We use our extensive grounds for outdoor learning. Our Reception and Key Stage 1 classes both have an outdoor area so they can take their learning outdoors. We love competining and our pupils take part in a wide range of inter-school competions.
During their time in Key Stage Two, our pupils have weekly swimming lessons for at least one academic year. Last year, 100% of our Year 6 pupils achieved the National Curriculum requirements for swimming and self-rescue.
Details of how we have allocated our PE funding can be found below.
